Searching For Divorce Records Public Online

By Claire Dowell

It is the task of the Florida Department of Health, under their Vital Records office, to maintain Free California Divorce Records. The agency keeps documents of divorce that took place between 1962 and 1984. In addition, the agency can only provide a certificate that serves as proof that a divorce was finalized. If you want to acquire a certified copy of the documents, including those not kept by the Vital Records office, you can head to the Clerk of Superior Court of the exact county where the divorce took place.

To carry out a search, you must first acquire the proper request form at the Vital Records office or at the Clerk of Superior Court. Another way to acquire the form is by downloading it from their respective official webpage. Supply the pieces of information that the form requires such as the name of the husband and the wife, address, date of birth, and the date of the divorce. Do not forget to supply your personal contact information as well. Supply your name, phone number and address.

Citizens are granted access to divorce files because they are deemed as part of public files. Every citizen owns the right to get their own files and if errors are found on it, they can have it corrected by the caretaker of the file. It is also allowed to access the files of other individuals but it is not a right enjoyed by everyone. Some of the individuals that are granted access include the members of the law enforcement, lawyers and those who conduct history checks on the marital status of a future life partner. The extent of access granted to such people depends on the identity of the requestor and the reason for wanting to acquire it. If the caretaker of the files thinks that the reason for requesting a file is invalid, they have the authority to reject the request.

A divorce record contains the essential details of a divorce case. It contains the personal details of the couple such as their full names, their address, their birthday and age, and names of their respective parents to name a few. It also contains the terms and conditions as decided by a presiding judge such as the arrangement on child custody and the division of assets and liabilities.

Another way of obtaining copies of divorce records is by doing an online search. There are online service providers that are authorized by the court to maintain and provide the records to the public. There are many of such service providers on the Internet. However, not all of them can be trusted as there are fake ones that just want to take advantage of people. So before you choose a service provider to do conduct your search on, conduct a background check on them and collect all the facts you can get about them until you are satisfied that they are for real.

If you are looking for Divorce Court Records, you can get them at a county Clerk of Superior Court. To get access, you must have the consent of the owner of the records and that of the court. The court has the right to deny access if deemed fit and the right to punish requestors if the records are used inappropriately such as to defame, to blackmail or to harass others.
