Dark Times & The Necessity Of Faith

By Evan Sanders

When things are looking pretty negative in life, it can be truly tricky to see the light. Fear, doubt, depression, resentment all seep in and the end result doesn't look to good. Regularly we are so scared to even feel these thoughts and emotions that we try avoiding them altogether, only finding that they come back time after time. What's the way out? Is there a way out?

Through.

We must go through these things.

For almost all of us, we must grip onto our faith.

There's a specific kind of magic and grace in being able to get close to your emotions - even the ones that hurt - without being consumed by them. It's like trying to put your hand close to a hot pan to feel the heat but at the same time trying to not burn yourself. These negative and unpleasant feelings, while they test our soul intensely can turn out to be a source to our deepest healing however. They can take us places where we really have to bring our love and teach us about what requires some attention. Give yourself the chance to truly experience these thoughts and emotions deeply while not trying to run from them and change them and see just how much you can learn. It is certainly a challenging experiene to say the least, but it's an very advantageous experience in itself.

Can this experience be truly unpleasant in practice? Absolutely. But when we start to link into the darker energies of life, we give ourselves a chance to compassionately handle the things we may not have given much attention to during the past. These past events and gruesome emotions will come knocking at our door solidly, and we will be able to continue to pretend as if they do not exist, or we can kindly guide them in and commence the conversation that has always been needed.

These times will test your faith...but isn't that the point of having true faith in the first place? We need to have something that we all know we will be able to go to despite any challenge that comes our way. So run to your faith when times get dark...you will always have a light.
